Ole may be at the wheel but recent results suggest Manchester United may be stopping in sixth spot this season, for the second time in three years.
Solskjaer's impressive form as interim Manchester United boss gave supporters hope that all was not lost and that still may be the case.
However recent results, most notably against a very impressively drilled Wolves side has shown the Norwegian the huge task he faces and the reality that the honeymoon is well and truly over.
Manchester United supporters are getting too wound up about the possibility of Manchester City or Liverpool winning the league title. Who cares which do it?
The club are a million miles behind both and face a huge task to even compete for the title next season. Perhaps finishing sixth and missing out on the the coveted Champions League positions would spring Ed Woodward into action and finally realise what most Manchester united fans have for years that they have the sixth best squad in the league and hundreds of millions have been wasted since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
Finishing in the top four might be job done as far as Woodward is concerned.
You could count the number of players on one hand who deserve to stay at Manchester United and the exit door should be left wide open for a summer of departures.
Sir Alex won the league with Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Ashley Young but they are not good enough and it's laughable that they are still and the club and all three recently signed new deals.
Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia and Romelu Lukaku are also not good enough while Ander Herrera and Juan Mata are seemingly on their way out after failing to agree new deals.
Paul Pogba is dreaming of Real Madrid and his wish should be granted while the Alexis Sanchez imposter that the club signed from Arsenal should be offloaded to whoever would be crazy enough to pay his wages. The transfer has not worked out and his wages are holding the club to ransom with other players wanting similar deals.
A major clear out is needed and early reports suggest this will finally happen this summer. As for who wins the league, Liverpool or Manchester City, who cares?
Manchester United have enough problems of their own to worry about!
