Zlatan Could Be Manchester United's New Cantona

Speculation is rife that Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jose Mourinho will be reunited at Manchester United next season.

Manchester United must do everything in their power to ensure both arrive.  Both are proven winners and they will be joining a club used to success but in need of revival.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is world class.  He has won the league at every club he has joined.  With Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona and PSG on his incredible CV the obvious choice would be to come to England.

He claims money is never crucial in deciding where to move during his career so a move to the Chinese Super League would seem off the table unless one last pay day appeals to the much travelled 34 year old.

Manchester United appear to be the front runners for a move for the Swedish International with Manchester City out of the equation with the imminent arrival of Pep Guardiola.  The two have not seen eye to eye in the past during their season together at Barcelona, with Ibrahimovic blaming a clash of personalities with Guardiola for ruining his Barcelona dream.

Similarly a move to Manchester United under current boss Louis Van Gaal would be a no go, following Ibrahimovic’s spell at Ajax under Ronald Koeman where Van Gaal as a director had too much input and too many meetings where Ibrahimovic was expected to attend as would be the case at Manchester United.  Like with Guardiola a clash of personalities with Van Gaal just would not work at Manchester United.

If Manchester United are to emerge from their current slump since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson they must bring in both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jose Mourinho.
Ibrahimovic is the modern day Eric Cantona.  He delivers on the pitch, is idolised from those shouting his name from the stands and is respected for his achievements in the game.

As with Alex Ferguson, with Eric Cantona, the manager will know that he needs to be loved, he needs to be the number one, and you have to give him special treatment which the rest of the players in the squad realise it is best for the team as a unit.

Manchester United have lost major leaders and personalities within the squad over the years, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand have all left leaving arguably just Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick as the leaders within the group.
Manchester United are crying out for that special player that will make the fans jump off their seats.  They have not had that since Cristiano Ronaldo left for Real Madrid in 2009.

Although turning 35 this year Ibrahimovic will be a free agent and if Manchester United can get one or two seasons out of him it will be a bargain.  Manchester United have lots of young talent coming through, for the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial to get to play and learn from Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be a major boost to both and the future success of Manchester United.

Being realistic football these days is a business and the name 'Ibrahimovic' sells shirts, Manchester United would recruit the money they spend on him on shirts sales alone.
Similarly Jose Mourinho coming to Manchester United will be a huge boost for the club.  With Conte at Chelsea, Klopp at Liverpool, Guardiola at Manchester City, Manchester United need Jose Mourinho.

Realistically neither Ibrahimovic nor Mourinho will be long term at Manchester United.  Ibrahimovic is 35 and this will be his last major move of his career.  While Mourinho has never been successful in building a dynasty anywhere he has been.
However for now Manchester United need both if they are too get the club back on track.  Ibrahimovic just oozes class, people take notice wherever he goes people know Zlatan is in town.

Ibrahimovic has won titles in Holland, Italy, Spain and France, he could be the man that helps spark the revival of Manchester United and he can add England to his list of honours.  He won Serie A with three different clubs.

The arrival of Eric Cantona in 1992 helped turn Manchester United around,  the possible arrival of Ibrahimovic could do similar.

Mourinho and Ibrahimovic enjoyed a strong working relationship in their days together at Inter Milan, with the duo speaking warmly about each other in the years since their parting, a reunion for both at Manchester United could the spark that Manchester United need.
Mourinho begged Ibrahimovic not to leave Inter Milan for Barcelona.  Ibrahimovic left to try to win the Champions League and it hurt to leave Mourinho.

Both arriving at Old Trafford will be a huge boost to the club and a message to other clubs that Manchester United mean business.

While both may not have long term futures at United they can both play a major role in getting the club back to where it belongs.

Jose Mourinho will get the chance to prove he can build a dynasty and follow in the footsteps of his hero Alex Fergsuson.

Mourinho bringing in Zlatan Ibrahimovic at this crucial stage of Manchester United’s future could be the master stroke that the club have been looking for, just like they found with Cantona back in 1992.
