Now or Never for Liverpool

Liverpool have a world class manager in place and now they must start building a great squad capable of winning the majors honours on offer.  Every team must have a solid spine with Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder and Striker.  Liverpool at the moment are lacking on all fronts. This however is not Jurgen Klopp's fault but it is his problem.

While Simon Mignolet is a good keeper but he is nowhere near the standard required to command a first team place in a Liverpool side who wishes to qualify for the Champions League and in time win their first Premier League title.  Liverpool must address this problem, however reports of a new five year contract for Mignolet is mind boggling and unless he is going to be back up next season, Klopp has made a major mistake in keeping Mignolet as number one.  The loss of Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez has ripped the spine out of Liverpool, a major problem which Klopp must address after Brendan Rodgers failed to do.

Liverpool must show real ambition to lure the top talent to Liverpool.  They have already signed Marko Grujic and however good he will become they need stars ready to go now.  Klopp however is unlikely to get what he needs in this window and perhaps he should take the rest of the season to
assess his squad and plan for what will be a major overhaul of his squad in the summer.

Liverpool have spent an awful lot of money in the recent past and while some have done well most of the signings have been poor and have failed to last even one season at Melwood.  Liverpool have been linked with the likes of Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski.  However ambitious they may sound these are the type of players Liverpool should be after.  If they can achieve a top four finish under Klopp this season then there are many players who will like the idea of working under Klopp and the Champions League will be an added bonus and a useful negotiating tool. Despite the lack of success at Liverpool, Liverpool is still a big draw for certain players.

Klopp must look to replace Mignolet with the likes of Hugo Lloris or Jack Butland someone that can be relied upon when needed. Both these keepers have excelled at there current clubs so far this season. Both Mignolet and Adam Bogdan have shown they are not at that level.  Mario Gotze too should be chased as he has a close relationship with Klopp and if the quotes coming from him are to be believed he is open to a reunion.

Brendan Rodgers failed to sign the big names for Liverpool, even with Champions League football he failed to get his number one targets and the players needed to progress to that level.  Liverpool now have a man in charge who can attract the top names and with the backing of the board in the transfer market Liverpool finally could be on the road to winning their first Premier League title and adding to their impressive history.
